SEO WebP Image Optimizer converts your existing Magento pub/media JPG and PNG files into WebP format in bulk, directly from a simple admin utility page. WebP images are typically 25–80% smaller than equivalent JPEG and PNG files, reducing page weight, improving Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) scores, and boosting your store's performance-based search rankings.
The conversion is path-scoped — target a specific subdirectory like catalog/product or wysiwyg, or leave blank to process the entire media root. Sibling .webp files are created alongside originals, leaving your existing image URLs unchanged until you're ready to switch.

Safe Conversion with Dry Run & Archive
Bulk image operations can be risky on production stores. SEO WebP Optimizer includes two safety features. Dry run mode scans the target directory and shows you exactly which files would be converted — file counts, estimated size savings — without writing a single byte. Run dry first, verify the scope, then execute.
Archive originals as zip creates a compressed backup of all source files before any deletion. If you later need to restore the originals, the archive is right there. Delete-originals only runs after the archive is confirmed complete, preventing data loss in interrupted conversions.
