The Toweringmedia Search Autocomplete Extension for Magento 2 adds a fast, lightweight autocomplete dropdown to storefront search so customers can discover products and relevant search terms before they finish typing.
This first release combines search term suggestions from Magento search history with product suggestions from catalog matches, then returns them through a JSON endpoint and a frontend dropdown that works with standard Magento minisearch patterns.
Merchants can configure minimum characters, query suggestion limits, and product suggestion limits from admin, making it easy to tune the experience for different catalogs and storefront themes.
The extension provides a simple admin configuration section where store owners can enable or disable the module, define the minimum number of characters before search starts, and control how many query and product suggestions are displayed in the autocomplete dropdown.
Customers receive instant search suggestions directly in the storefront search box, including relevant search terms and matching products with product images and pricing. This improves product discovery and helps users find products faster without navigating through multiple pages.

Go to Stores → Configuration → Toweringmedia → Search Autocomplete → General. There you can enable the module, set the minimum characters before search, and control query and product suggestion visibility and limits.
What appears in the autocomplete dropdown?
Two sources: search query suggestions from Magento search history, and product suggestions from catalog name/SKU matches with thumbnail, name, and price. Each source can be turned off or limited separately.
Does it need a separate search index?
No. Product suggestions use Magento catalog collections, and query suggestions read Magento’s search_query history. There is no proprietary secondary index to rebuild for this extension.
