Overview

This extension gives you rule-based control over robots meta directives in Magento 2. You can noindex pages by route or path pattern, noindex parameterized URLs such as filtered category results, and apply hostname-based protection so a staging domain is never indexed.

What this extension does

  • Robots meta directives applied by route or path rule.
  • Noindex handling for parameterized URLs such as filter and sort combinations.
  • Hostname-based staging protection.

Requirements

  • Magento 2.4.x (Open Source or Adobe Commerce).
  • PHP: >=8.1 (as declared by the published package).
  • A current Toweringmedia license and Composer credentials for https://composer.toweringmedia.com/.
  • Requires toweringmedia/module-search-intelligence-core — Composer installs it automatically.

Installation

Install and validate in a staging environment before production rollout.

cd /path/to/magento
composer require toweringmedia/module-seo-indexation-rules

bin/magento module:enable Toweringmedia_SeoIndexationRules
bin/magento setup:upgrade
bin/magento setup:di:compile
bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
bin/magento cache:flush

Currently published versions at the time of writing:

  • toweringmedia/module-seo-indexation-rules — 1.0.7

Toweringmedia packages are served from the licensed Composer repository https://composer.toweringmedia.com/. General installation notes that apply to every Toweringmedia extension are in the installation guide.

Configuration

  • Stores > Configuration > Towering Media > SEO Indexation Rules (config section seo_indexation_rules), group general.
  • Shortcut: Intelligence SEO Suite > Indexation Rules opens the same configuration section.

Basic usage and what to expect

  1. Add rules for the routes or path patterns that should not be indexed.
  2. Flush cache, then view the page source of an affected URL and confirm the robots meta tag reads as intended.
  3. Verify a normal product and category page still say index, follow before leaving it in place.

Notes and limitations

  • Rules here directly affect whether Google indexes your pages. A rule that is too broad can deindex sections of the store, so verify the rendered robots tag on real URLs after every change.

Validation checklist

  • bin/magento module:status shows the module(s) as enabled.
  • Extension configuration saves without errors in Admin.
  • The admin screens listed above are reachable and load without error.
  • Expected storefront/admin behavior is present after a cache flush.
  • No critical PHP/JS errors appear in var/log/ during the primary test flow.

Troubleshooting

  • Composer cannot find the package: confirm the https://composer.toweringmedia.com/ repository and your credentials are present in auth.json, and that your license covers this package.
  • Feature not visible: verify module status, flush cache, and redeploy static content.
  • Admin setting not applying: clear cache and confirm the config scope (default / website / store view).
  • Unexpected behavior: retest with only the required related modules enabled.
